It's not you... it' me.

I have come to realize, as I get older, that things I used to find enjoyable/acceptable now drive me bonkers!!!

For one, I can’t stand talking on the phone. I used to enjoy it! I always had a phone stuck to the side of my head. Now (when I’m not working) I find myself purposely leaving my phone behind. Maybe it’s because I’m on the phone all day at work. Maybe it’s because I am just getting only and ornery.  Either way… don’t take it personal if I don’t answer the phone. It’s not you, it’s me.

Another peeve…. sappy reality shows, sitcoms and made for t.v. movies. I used to LOVE this stuff! Now, the minute the cue the “tear-jerking-theme-music” I am rolling my eyes, cursing under my breath and scrambling to change the channel. I know they do it for ratings; people eat that stuff up! It’s not the producers fault, it’s me.

And finally… socialism. I used to believe that “distribution of wealth” was a good idea! Then I started paying $10,000 a year in taxes because I was single and successful, while other people I knew were collecting “unemployment” so they could go to school. Really?? I used to work full time AND go to school. What happened to that mentality? If you want it bad enough, you work hard and do whatever it takes to make it happen. I could go on and on about this subject. But I'm sure its not the people who are looking for the hand out, it’s me.

Also, my friend Malorie had her baby yesterday! Little Miss Luci :) Can’t wait to meet her!

Off to Glenda Mary’s this evening for a cookout and fireworks.

I hope a wonderful weekend is had by all!

See you next week!

This and that....

I have been at “The Edge” all this week. For those of you who are unaware, I usually spend Monday through Friday on the road. Not this week. I am covering for a co-worker AND making sure all my daily duties are met… it’s a busy week.

The good news is, it’s Thursday, not Wednesday
.
I have also come to realize, that having the air conditioner set at 72 degrees feels completely different from having the heat set at 72 degrees… I am FREEZING! What’s up with that?

Mr. Fenton brought me cookies today. There were 4 in the bag. I had 1 chocolate chip and ½ a peanut butter. The bag is now empty… somebody must really care about my sugar intake.

I had a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday. It was the last ultrasound I will have (unless there are any inconsistencies or complications).

4th of July weekend was great! Spent Saturday at Matt's friend’s camp.  Sunday at Jeanna and Cato’s for a cookout and get together. Monday at the Reed’s camp on Little Sebago, followed by fireworks at Payson Park. Overall it was a splendid holiday weekend!

My friend Malorie went into the hospital today to have her baby! We are excited to meet her new little bundle.
Good Luck Mal and Joe!

Steak on the grill tonight… side dishes to be determined.

Ciao for now!

Happy Birthday, America!

The fourth of July is my second favorite holiday.

Here's why:

- It’s in July
- I usually have a healthy golden glow by the time the 4th rolls around (this year, that is not the case…but I can pretend!).
- Fireworks!
- Cookouts
- Everyone is happy!
- The smell of fireworks and sparklers is a happy smell.
- I get an extra day off of work in the middle of the summer.
- It’s America’s birthday!

So this weekend Matt and I will be spending time on a lake, cooking out with friends, watching the fireworks and just kicking back.  I plan to eat, read, eat, sleep, swim, eat and relax!

Tonight: Grammy’s house for Italian sandwich night! Lew and Tracy will be there as well. It’s always good to catch up with Grammy over a couple Amato’s sandwiches and some cheese doodles!

Happy Birthday America!

God Bless!!!

BIG....like an elephant.

Last night I had a mani and pedi with a couple of girlfriends. While relaxing in the lovely massaging chair at the nail salon, my nail lady says to me;

“Your legs are starting to swell!”

“Well, thank you so very much for noticing, Nail Lady! Why yes, my legs are starting to retain water rather nicely, aren’t they?” --- Okay, so I didn’t actually say that. But the thought did cross my mind.

For dinner I decided to make things better by gorging myself on fried, sodium rich Chinese food. By the time I got home I was feeling rather plump from the shoulders down. I have two words to describe the rest of the evening….

Poor Matt.

Yep, that’s right. I never thought I would be “that girl” but there I was!
“My thighs are so fat”
“Matt, look at this… I’m so gross!”
“There is no way I am going to squeeze myself into any type of bathing suit this summer!”
“Waaaahhh…. Waaaahhh…. Waaaahhhh”

I thank God every day for my husband. I don’t know what I would do without him.

On another baby note, my cousin Anna mentioned to me that elephants carry their young for something like 22 months. That being said, I am decorating our little guys room in baby elephant décor.

Kudos to you, Momma elephants!

For Derf

It was requested by a certain ‘bonus grandfather to be’ that I blog every day. However, since I can hardly remember to feed the cat on a daily basis, I decided to try for twice a week instead. (Note: I don’t actually feed my cat at all. I am so bad at it that my husband kindly took over that chore. And to think, I have an actual human being on the way that I will be responsible for feeding….oy.)

Today is Friday at the Edge! You know what that means…..Sundae Fun day! I devoured my ice cream a bit early today so it would have plenty of time to digest it before the greek fest this evening.

Bring on the Gyros!

Ahhhh...  Food :)

On the baby front, it appears as though my son loves the sound of his daddy’s voice. For those of you who aren’t familiar, Matt has a pretty deep voice. In the evenings when we are both at home catching up on the day’s events, our little all-star begins his aerobic workout. He bounces on my bladder like it’s a trampoline, jumps rope with the umbilical cord and I think he’s attempting the parallel bars with my ribcage. This all happens while daddy is talking…. It’s actually quite precious.

I can no longer “roll out bed” as I have been accustomed to doing the past 30 years. I now have to sort of scoot out of bed. Of course my body hasn’t quite figured out how to communicate this to my half conscience brain first thing in the morning so I still attempt to roll when the alarm goes off! Old habits die hard.

Tomorrow we will be attending a pig roast at my cousin Annabananna’s house. It’s her hubby’s 30th birthday.
Happy Birthday Justin!

Let’s see if we can make a liar out of Joe Coupo this weekend.

Bring on the Sun!!!

Things about life I learned from my mother.

Last night I made #7 for the first time in a long time. Matt had never had it before and he thought it was funny that I called it "smash". I started thinking then about other things I learned from my Momma. Here are a few of those valuable life lessons now!

Enjoy!

1.       Chicken with the bone in is the best kind.

2.       Always wear cotton underwear.

3.       Dogs do not belong on the furniture. Furniture is for people… dogs are animals. >> Note: this rule no longer seems to apply in my mother’s house. <<

4.       How to make chocolate chip cookies.

5.       How to fold towels properly.

6.       Open face peanut butter sandwiches always taste better with a smiley face or heart drawn in the center of them.

7.       “Smash” is the same thing as shepard’s pie but with all the components separated….and it’s just as good if not better.

8.       Always say “please” and “thank you”.

9.       Pray

10.   If you plan on trying on shoes in the store you had better be wearing socks.

11.   Red is a good color to have in a kitchen.

12.   A carpet that has vacuum lines in it looks better than one without.

13.   Refrigerators and cars are a pain in the butt to keep clean.

14.   Pay your bills!

15.   Gardening/planting is good for the soul.

16.   No matter how old you get, Mom’s house will always be home.
